Today in 1536 saw the first mention of Jane Seymour in relation to Henry VIII. Eustace Chapuys, the Imperial Ambassador, wrote to Emperor Charles V on the 10th February 1536 commenting on how the King had “lately made great presents” to “Mistress Semel”, Jane Seymour, and that “some” were putting Anne’s miscarriage down to Anne’s “fear” that she would be put aside.
